About
You're probably the only one.
If you're a Christian who builds software, you're probably the only one on your team. Maybe the only one at your company who prays before a launch, holds a line on integrity when a deadline gets ugly, or wonders whether any of the work matters to God.
It's easy to conclude you're the odd one out.
You aren't.
The Den is a monthly letter for developers, designers, and technical founders who love Jesus and love the work. Encouragement, prayer, career support, and a place where faith and craft are both allowed to be real.
The story underneath
Daniel
An excellent spirit was in him.
If you haven't already guessed, this letter is based on the story of Daniel. He was surrounded by secularism, did really good work, and he was rewarded. And also thrown into a lion's den (the weekly standup). Despite these things he still remained true to his faith and true to his work. I was inspired by Daniel, and this is what came of it.
What we're about
- 01
Do good work
Quality is the witness. Be the person who is respected for their craft, whatever else they think about you.
- 02
Stand out, kindly
Different in a way that draws people in, not one that puts them off.
- 03
You're not the only one
Belonging comes first. Small calls. Names, not numbers. A person replies.
- 04
Integrity in the empire
Faith at work means real decisions. Deadlines, ethics, layoffs, hard bosses. We talk about them honestly, without dunking on anyone we work for.
Where this goes
A letter first.
The Den starts as one letter a month, because that is the part that works whether ten people read it or a thousand. It does not need a platform, a schedule of calls, or a room full of strangers to be worth your time.
After that: a cohort of twelve, twice a year, meeting for a few months. Small enough that nobody is a spectator. Later, a room for the people who have been through one. Those come when there are enough of us to fill them properly, and not before. You will hear about them here first.
